Dyes for dyeing
are used by children at Easter time to have coloured eggs.
Water colours they have
taken for painting in the sunflower project.
Now you will get different
dyes, MULTIFIBRE
6 (a
fabric containing 6 samples of materials our clothes are made from).
What
you will get
Left: 3 vials (10
ml) with water. In each of them a spatula tip
of 3 dyes
were dissolved (Acid
Green 50 + a drop of vinegar, Basic
Red 15, Methyl Orange).
Stripes
of MULTIFIBRE 6, tweezers, electric cup warmer, 50-ml bottle with
water for washing.
Experiment
* Middle:
Use the tweezers to dip one MULTIFIBRE stripe after the other into each
of the three vials.
* Leave
them in their solutions for one minute at a temperature of 40° C.
* Take them
out one by one to wash them in the bottle with water.
* Right
After washing and drying the MULTIFIBRE samples you can clearly observe::
Nylon
and wool are well dyed by all the dyes, cotton is only
properly dyed by Basic Red 15.
