Measure the volume of water and the volume of metal closures
Volume is the space occupied by a gas, a liquid or a solid substance
What you need
10-ml syringe, micro burner, pliers, dropper bottle with water, 8 metal closures ofLiquemin bottles 5 ml.
Experiment
* Left photo: Remove the piston of a 10-ml syringe, heat the nozzle by the burner,
* tightly press the soft plastic by the pliers:
* You have made a microscale measuring cylinder ("graduated jar"). Fill it by 9.4 ml  of water.
*Middle photo: On its left side (2.) you see the measuring cylinder with 9.4 ml of water and 8 metal closures
   in front of it.
* On the right side of this photo (1.) the 8 metal closures are inside the graduated jar with water
*Right photo: The water volume plus metal closures (2.)  increased from 9.6 ml to 10.0 ml.
Evaluation
The volume of the 8 metal closures = volume 2 minus volume 1 = 10.0 minus 9.4 ml = 0.6 ml
