What you need
Micro spririt burner, white, red, black, green and orange beads as models for H, O, C atoms and Cl^- + Na⁺ ions.
Modelling
*  Left:  Take one red bead and one of the white ones between the tips of your thumbs and forefingers.
*  Heat them (not your fingers!) at the two sides of the micro burner flame.
* As soon as the beads are soft, weld them together.
* Middle: The smallest particles of the salt sodium chloride are sodium and chloride ions of positive and
   negative charge. Like charges repel each other, like charges attract.
  The positive and negative ions are modelled by orange/yellow and by green beads with a + and a - on it.
* Right: Molecule models of water, sodium chloride and carbon dioxide with defined colours and shapes.
