Usually liquids only flow
downwards. The spirit of the burner moved
upwards in the wick: You could observe how colours also climbed
up.
As long as liquid leaves
at the top of the wickd, more liquid climbs up:
You can use this phenomenon
to transport coloured water from one bottle to another.
What
you need: Liquemin bottle full of coloured water, 3-mL
injection bottle, sticky tape, piece of tissue paper.
Experiment:
Left: 1. Place
the smaller (empty!) bottle beside the Liquemin bottle.
2. Connect them by
piece of sticky tape.
3. Make a long wick
from the tissue paper.
4. Dip one side into
the full bottle, the other one into the empty bottle.
