14. Reaction of ethylene and bromine: Electrophilic addition
* Mix 3 ml of ethanol and 2 ml of conc. sulfuric acid in a
   25 ml vial.
* Heat on an electric hot plate until bubbles can be seen.
* Close it by a nozzled rubber stopper to which a
  narrow gas delivery tube is attached with its other
  end inserted into the tip of a 50-ml syringe.
* The syringe full of water is placed in a glas beaker.
* The water in the syringe will be replaced by ethylene gas which
   is washed by the water in the beaker.
No photos: A brown solution of bromine in water is decolourized by the ethylen gas pumped into it from the syringe.
