W01 Most of
the earth is covered by water....
Right: ..... as oceans,
as ice of Arctica and Antarctica.
(Click the photo from
the space to enlarge it):
The clouds on the photo
are tiny water dops or ice crystals. Less than one third of the earth are
land.
Left: This iceberg
(marked by 4 arrows) break off Antarctica. Scientists have measured that
it had the size of Jamaika. It is difficult to imagine such huge
quantities of water!
Even one litre is far too
much for your experiments. You will divide it into smaller and smaller
portions and calculate volumes
of these microscale quantitities.
