The Dead Sea is
a salt lake between Israel and Jordan (Fig.
1). Its water level is the lowest one of the world: 400 meters below
sea level.Its
main afflux is the river Jordan. The Dead Sea does not have an outlet. Due
to the hot and dry desert climate evaporation is extremely high. So each litre
of its water contains more than 300 g of Dead Sea
Salt
(Fig.
3).
Its density is extremely high (Fig.
1).
It is used for the production of fertilizers, magnesium,
bromine and sodium chloride. In German pharmacies and drugstores you can by
it for bathing cures (Fig.
2).
